Kafeneion (Coffee House)

Peaceful, nostalgic, picturesque. Situated in the center of the village of Glossa with large shady terraces, you will find our traditional Kafeneion, run by brothers Kostas and Christos.

Described as a coffee house, but, most importantly a social institution where men and increasingly women gather to discuss the latest news, read the newspaper, play cards and tavli (backgamon).

Experience a variation of traditional Greek coffee or a refreshing cold coffee (locally known as Frappe), along with the usual alcoholic beverages, you will also find simple snacks like omlettes, toasties, fruit, yogurt and ice cream. This is a wonderful place to sit and soak up traditional Greek village life.

The large terrace area known locally as the Platia is shared by the kafeneion and the villages largest church.  These buildings are a major focal point of village life, from the very young to the very old.  Become part of this traditional village life, sit a while and enjoy!
