Sea Kayaking Skopelos Expeditions

Sporades kayaking expedition
Our sea kayaking expeditions start from our base in Loutraki and head out along the coast of Skopelos, crossing the narrow channel to Alonissos and then follow the coast before crossing to the islands of the marine conservation area.
Before setting out we all meet to discuss preferred routes and weather conditions.
There are several points where we can call in for provisions en-route but once we leave Alonissos the islands of the marine conservation area are uninhabited, so this part of the expedition is unsupported and all provisions need to be carried by the group.
We expect to be away for 8-10 days, 2 days to reach Alonissos, 4-6 days exploring the islands of the conservation area and 2-3 days to return to Loutraki.
These are estimates and will be effected by weather conditions.
It is planed to organise 2 expeditions per year, one in the spring around May - June and the second to be in the Autumn around September - October. We have chosen these times because there are less tourists around, and the weather is not too hot.
Sea kayaking qualifications
These expeditions are aimed at experienced paddlers who hold a minimum of the BCU 3 star sea kayaking award or equivalent, if you don't hold these awards then proof of paddling experience and skills will be necessary.

September ExpeditionWe are organizing an expedition for Autumn 2012, the preliminary dates are 10 - 16 September 2012
At this time of the year the weather is normally very good and the islands are much quieter.
We are planning to depart from Loutraki and visit the islands of Alonissos, Peristera and Kyra Panagia before returning to Loutraki.
Expect to cover distances of 20 - 35 kilometeres each day.
Nights will be spent camping on deserted beaches, there will be opportunities to pick up supplies en route until we leave Alonissos and head for the islands of the marine conservation area (Peristera and Kyra Panagia).
Places are limited to a maximum of 10.
